James Redfield

About James Redfield, Author of The Celestine ProphecyJames Redfield was born March 19, 1950 in rural Alabama. He had always been keen about spiritual issues and continued to make in depth inquiries even as a young boy growing up in a tight knit Methodist church. Because his inquiries into the spiritual realm remained unanswered as he grew up, we divested a significant amount of time in studying philosophies such as Zen, Buddhism and Taoism.

James Redfield obtained his undergraduate degree in Sociology from the Auburn University and later went to earn a Master’ degree in counseling psychology. He dedicated over 15 years of his life counseling abused teenagers. It was during this time that he developed greater interest in human abilities such as intuition and encouraged his clients to use these abilities in seeking their own redemption.

In 1989, James quit his therapy work to write and to aggregate the profound ideas and interests that had been part of him since he was a young man. It took approximately 3 years for him to write and self-publish The Celestine Prophecy.

The Celestine Prophecy is a reflective work that uses parables to relay a message of spiritual awareness and the unprecedented human potential. Yet what Redfield was really conveying through his best-selling book is that each human has the capacity and responsibility of using intuition to determine his or her individual spiritual destiny.

Although initially self-published, the Celestial Prophesy was later republished in 1994 as a hardcover by Warner Books. The book catapulted Redfield to acclamation as a New York Bestseller, and held this recognition for the three years. Redfield immediately followed up his Celestine Prophecy with The Tenth Insight, which also gained a top spot in the New York bestseller list. In 1996 James Redfield was the bestselling author (hardcover) in the world.

In the wake of the success that followed the publication of The Celestine Prophecy and The Tenth Insight, Redfield published a series of books adding to his initial publications. These included The Secret of Shambhala: In Search of the Eleventh Insight, The Celestine Vision, and God and the Evolving Universe: The Next Step in Personal Evolution.
